At Qualco Group, we recognise that authentic human connection, particularly in today’s hybrid and remote work environment, plays a vital role in building strong bonds and fostering a positive employee experience.

For this reason, over the past three years, we have established the initiative “Breakfast with the Group Deputy CEO” within Qualco Technology, the Group’s software and technology arm. The initiative has stood out for its simplicity, warmth, and meaningful impact.

Conversations Over Breakfasts

This recurring, monthly, in-person gathering brings together small groups of 10–15 employees for breakfast with Spyros Retzekas, our Group Deputy CEO. In a relaxed and informal setting, colleagues are encouraged to engage in open conversations by sharing ideas, asking questions, and discussing topics that matter to them. The goal is to create a safe space where employees can interact casually with senior leadership, gain insights into the company’s vision and strategic priorities, and contribute their own perspectives.

Evolving with Our People

What truly differentiates this initiative is its authenticity and its thoughtful balance between physical presence and inclusivity. As a company with hybrid and remote employees, we recognise the value of in-person interaction while ensuring the initiative remains relevant and accessible to colleagues across locations and roles.

For this reason, in 2025, the initiative evolved further to ensure broader participation and representation:

  • A Thessaloniki edition welcomed colleagues from Northern Greece
  • An international edition engaged foreign colleagues visiting our HQ
  • A Patra edition welcomed colleagues from the Peloponnese
  • Thematic breakfasts, such as the Women’s Breakfast in March, the Christmas Breakfast, and the New Year’s Breakfast with a traditional pita-cutting ceremony, added a festive and meaningful touch, each accompanied by thoughtful gifts for participants.

Turning Dialogue into Impact

The initiative has delivered tangible benefits, including enhanced leadership approachability and empathy, increased cross-business-unit understanding and collaboration, a stronger sense of employee satisfaction and belonging, and closer alignment with our core values.By removing formality and hierarchy from the conversation, the initiative actively promotes trust, transparency, and psychological safety.

What the Data Tells Us

The success of Breakfasts with the Group Deputy CEO is reflected in both quantitative results and qualitative feedback gathered throughout 2025:

  • 8 sessions held
  • 6 special editions
  • 80 participants
  • 100% satisfaction rate
  • 98% likelihood to recommend to colleagues

Looking Ahead Together

At Qualco Group, initiatives like this reflect our belief that engagement is built through dialogue and shared experiences. Alongside our annual Employee Engagement Survey, through which we collect feedback and turn insights into action, this initiative represents a tangible effort to continuously improve employee experience.
By creating spaces where people feel heard, valued, and connected, we continue to strengthen our culture, one conversation at a time.
If you’re looking for a workplace where people are a priority, with open communication and meaningful benefits, Qualco Group is the place for you.
