Intelligent Decisions: Where Data Meets Impact
An Interview with Alexandros Tzitzeras | Senior Director of AI & Analytics at Qualco Technology
Inside the Team Driving AI Transformation at Qualco Technology
At Qualco Technology, the technology backbone of Qualco Group, the Intelligent Decisions Team is shaping the way artificial intelligence becomes part of real-world business solutions. Working at the intersection of data science, machine learning, analytics, and Generative AI, the team develops products and capabilities that help organisations make smarter, faster, and more impactful decisions.
We spoke with Alexandros Tzitzeras about the culture and mindset behind innovation, and what it takes to build AI products that create measurable business value.

How would you describe the Intelligent Decisions Team, and what role does it play in driving business impact?
Alexandros Tzitzeras: “The Intelligent Decisions team is the AI engine of Qualco Technology. We sit at the intersection of data science, machine learning, and generative AI, and our mission is deceptively simple: to turn data into decisions that matter. We’re a multidisciplinary crew of data scientists, ML engineers, GenAI specialists, and analytics professionals who build products for our customers and the Qualco Group ecosystem. From predictive models that reshape how our clients manage risk to agentic AI solutions that automate complex workflows, everything we build is designed with one question in mind: “What real-world problem does this solve?”
The challenges we tackle range from building and scaling our three core product lines — Qualco Data Studio, Qualco ML Studio, and Qualco Agentic Studio — to driving the company-wide AI Transformation program that’s shaping how all of Qualco product lines leverage artificial intelligence. We embed intelligence into the DNA of our products.”
Can you walk us through how a typical project unfolds within the Intelligent Decisions Team, from initial idea to final delivery?
Alexandros Tzitzeras: “Εvery project starts with a real problem. Ideas come from everywhere such as client conversations, internal product teams, market signals, or sometimes a team member who’s been tinkering with something over the weekend and says “Hey, what if we tried this?” We encourage that kind of organic innovation.
Once an idea is on the table, we evaluate it through a structured prioritisation process that looks at technical feasibility, data availability, and most importantly, business impact. We follow OKR-driven quarterly planning, which helps us stay focused on meaningful outcomes while still leaving room for experimentation and innovation.
From there, projects usually begin with a rapid Proof of Concept to validate assumptions early. If the PoC (Proof of Concept) proves successful, we move into full Agile development cycles with bi-weekly sprints covering analysis, design, implementation, testing, and deployment. But in AI, projects are never truly “finished.” We continuously monitor performance, optimise models, introduce new features, and iterate based on evolving business needs. AI is a living ecosystem, and it must evolve alongside the organisations using it.”

Which tools, technologies, or ways of working help your team collaborate effectively and deliver high-quality outcomes?
Alexandros Tzitzeras: “We work within a Microsoft-oriented environment for day-to-day collaboration, while always remaining open to experimenting with new tools and approaches. Jira and Confluence are central to our project management and knowledge-sharing processes, while on the technical side, we work across the modern AI/ML stack, from Python and C# to cloud infrastructure, MLOps pipelines, and the latest LLM and agentic AI frameworks.
But honestly, the most important “tool” is how we communicate. We maintain close collaboration with product, engineering, and business teams through regular cross-functional syncs and internal demo sessions where anyone can showcase work in progress and even unfinished ideas.
The philosophy is simple: share early, gather feedback quickly, and adapt before changes become expensive.”
Can you share a project that stands out as a success for the team?
Alexandros Tzitzeras: “A defining moment for the team was the lead-up to our AI Products Launch Event, the culmination of months of work across three core products: Qualco Data Studio, Qualco ML Studio, and Qualco Agentic Studio. Our ambition was clear from the beginning: to build enterprise-grade AI products designed for the new AI era, not simply add AI features onto existing platforms.
The challenge was that all three products were evolving in parallel, each serving different use cases and operating at different maturity levels. Maintaining alignment while responding to diverse client needs required constant collaboration and adaptability.
What made it work was the team’s ability to operate as one unified group despite the complexity. Engineers, data scientists, and product managers worked closely together through bi-weekly sprints, while early adopter clients helped us test solutions against real-world scenarios long before the launch event.
The result was a proof that we could transform ambitious ideas into market-ready AI solutions at a pace even we hadn’t imagined possible just months earlier.”

What qualities and behaviors do you value most in people who join the Intelligent Decisions Team?
Alexandros Tzitzeras: “Curiosity comes first; credentials come second. Strong technical foundations absolutely matter, but what truly distinguishes someone in this field is the desire to continuously learn and evolve. AI moves incredibly fast, and the people who thrive are those who see that pace as exciting rather than overwhelming.
Beyond technical expertise, there are three qualities we value deeply: communication, ownership, and empathy. Communication, because the most brilliant model in the world is useless if you can’t explain it to a product owner or a client. Ownership, because we operate with a lot of autonomy — we trust people to take the lead on their work, and that comes with real accountability. And empathy, because strong teams are built on mutual support. We celebrate each other’s successes, help each other through challenges, and genuinely work as a team.
Looking ahead, what opportunities or challenges do you see shaping the future of the Intelligent Decisions Team?
Alexandros Tzitzeras: “We’re living through one of the most transformative periods in the history of technology. As organisations move from experimenting with AI to operationalising it at scale, the demand for trustworthy, enterprise-grade AI platforms continues to grow rapidly. At the same time, challenges such as ethical AI, regulatory complexity, explainability, and data governance remain central to the work we do every day. For us, building AI also means building responsibly.
To prepare for the future, we continue investing in our people, platforms, and partnerships, while fostering a culture where innovation can come from anyone. The key to staying innovative is staying adaptable, remaining curious, open-minded, and always willing to keep learning.”
